Summer Fete 2022

The Fete is back this year

Saturday 25 June 12.30pm – 4.00pm

in and around St Mary’s Kidlington

This is the church’s great, annual ‘open day’, a chance to welcome and get to know people from Kidlington & Hampton Poyle who are not necessarily members of our congregations.  No agenda, no commitment, just enjoyment and fun:  a gift from the Church to our Villages, though in the past it has always produced some useful income for the church’s mission too.

The Fete has always used yellow and blue as its theme colours, and this year we are also asking all our stall holders to wear something yellow and/or blue to show our support for the Ukrainians at this hard time for them.  Perhaps you would like to show your support too.  Wear something yellow and/or blue, an article of clothing, a scarf, badge or rosette, anything to show your solidarity.

There will be the usual delights – Cakes, Plants, Toys, Games, Books, Retro etc etc…  Of course, there will be a BBQ, Beer Tent and Teas to keep your strength up, and live music to relax to.  Kester the Jester will be there with his balloon modelling and circus workshop.

New for 2022 will be our very own “Lego® Masters” challenge.  Bring your Lego® bricks along and have a go at our Secret Challenge!  The challenge starts at 1pm and will take place inside the Church.

Let your imagination fly in this new competition for the Fete.  Bring your own Lego ® bricks into church, follow the signs to the Lego Zone, and at 1pm we will reveal the Secret Challenge we’re asking you to build –  against the clock! At 1.45pm, we’ll blow the whistle and judge the results, prizes for the best Master builds.

All ages welcome, but note: builders aged 5-12 compete for prizes, over 12s just for fun!

The Challenge will be followed, outside at 2pm, by our ever-popular Dog Show.

Our fabulous Win-A-Day out stall will be there for you to win days out or other treats for you or your family.  While you are there, why not pop along to Andy’s Bees and find out about the wonderful Honey Bee, maybe even buy some local honey!

In & around St Mary’s Church, Church Street, with shelter from the sun &/or rain, as needed.  All in all, a great day out, see you there!

To make it a successful and enjoyable day for all we need lots of volunteers doing lots of little bits. Your help is needed.  Please sign up for as many activities and time slots as you can or email Tilly with your offers, ideally 2 hours or more: tilly.evershed@ntlworld.com

Thank you from Tilly & the Team
