About Us

The three churches of St Mary’s Kidlington, St John’s Kidlington and St Mary’s Hampton Poyle are at the heart of our growing and diverse communities, just as they have been for 800 years. With an inclusive and welcoming attitude, we are open almost every day of the year and are concerned to serve all residents regardless of faith or church attendance.

Our church community includes people of all ages and people come for many different reasons. Some of us are life-long Christians and some of us are exploring faith for the first time. If you would like to make your Christian journey with us you are very welcome.

Our diverse community is reflected in the different types of worship, study groups, and fellowship in the parish. During the pandemic we have developed a considerable on-line ministry which will continue for the future alongside the services in our buildings as we gradually return to our services and groups in person. We seek to serve the communities of Kidlington and Hampton Poyle in a variety of ways. In normal times, we work closely with children and families through the Community Hub which hosts a variety of groups and services to support children and families.

Each church offers something a little bit different in terms of worship but across all three churches and online you will find inclusive and creative worship and a warm and caring community of people. We love liturgy, the sacraments and music in our worship. It is our aim that all we do is authentic and reflects clearly who we are called to be as Christ-like people.  We hope you enjoy reading about our heritage and our life and work today.

As a response to God’s generosity people are very generous with their time, their talents and their money and because of this we have a vibrant Church community in which everyone plays their part. We are normally able to host many events, ranging from concerts to birthday parties which are part of the life of this village. St Mary’s Kidlington has a Friends of St Mary’s Kidlington scheme which helps to maintain and improve the building and its community facilities through subscriptions, fund raising, and a range of interesting and fun events, such as concerts, talks and teas.
