For several years before COVID we enjoyed a programme of Sunday morning talks in the Kidlington Theological Forum. After the main service at St Mary’s Kidlington we grabbed our coffees and returned to church for a 20 minute talk followed by 10 minutes questions. The program covered aspects of theology, faith, church, ethics, and discipleship presented in an accessible manner and was very much appreciated.
NOW THE FORUM IS BACK FOR 2026/27
Over the course of the year we’ll be taking a journey through the Old Testament, so we can both better understand scripture as a whole, and the one who fulfils it. Most months, after the joint service at 11:30am, we’ll have an approx. half hour talk followed by Q and A.
We began on September 27th, with Paul speaking on the foundational stories in Genesis 1-11.
It continues next week (25th October) after the joint service at St. John’s. Grab a coffee after the service and we’ll start at 11:30am. The next in our series walking, or sprinting, through the Old Testament will be John Goldingay speaking on “Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” For those of you who don’t know John, here’s his brief autobiography:
John Goldingay is a retired priest and professor who goes to Morning Prayer in Christ Church, writes books about the Old Testament (currently writing one on Satan in the book of Job), and lies in the sun on his lounger. Oliver once told him to listen to Oasis, and he did.
