Questions for God

Last autumn, groups of people met on four occasions to look at some of the questions that Christians have asked themselves and God down through the centuries. We looked at questions about suffering, life after death, forgiveness and other faiths. We did not expect to find definitive answers, but had the opportunity to share together our thoughts and insights on the questions. During the course of those sessions, three more subjects were identified that people said they would like to explore, so I would like to invite you to three more sessions on questions for God. Each one will be complete in itself, so you do not need to attend all of them.

The sessions will be held on Thursday afternoons, from 2pm–3.30pm in St Mary’s Refectory, as follows:
17th October: Why do some prayers seem to go unanswered?
7th November: Who or what are angels?
21st November: What do we mean by ‘images of God’? How do we define and describe our images of God?

Each of these subjects could be the basis for a whole series of sessions, so we will not go in to great depth, though, if people wish to, there may be potential to take the discussion further. However, I hope the sessions will encourage and enable honest sharing and respectful discussion, and offer the opportunity to explore different perspectives, and express insights, questions and opinions.

Please let me know if you are intending to come (though don’t feel you can’t come if you haven’t!) Also let me know if you would be interested but cannot attend at the time offered. Penny Pedley via Parish Office
