The central part of the building is a large hall (19×8 m, thus 152 sq m; i.e. 1,636 sq ft). This provides space for seating at least 100 theatre-style or 80 can sit comfortably round tables for events involving food. The open space and large windows give the hall a very spacious feel and the sprung floor is especially suitable for dance/exercise classes – or for young children running around.
From the hall, doors lead to a Meeting Room and the toilet/kitchen lobby.
The Meeting Room is 3.5 x 6 m (21 sq m or 225 sq ft) – suitable for 15-20 people, depending on what tables are needed. The lobby provides access to the two toilets and the kitchen. There are two “unisex” toilets, one of which is fully disabled- friendly and the other includes a baby changing unit.
Our kitchen was completely refitted early in 2015. It can be used simply for preparing and serving drinks or for a major cook-in – we estimate it’s suitable for providing a full meal for 60-80 people or buffet for up to 100.
There is a range cooker (2 electric fan ovens, 1 electric grill and 5 gas rings), dishwasher (each load takes about 2 minutes), fridge, water heater for drinks, microwave and coffee filter machine. Plenty of work surfaces, including a central work unit, makes preparation easy and a serving hatch opening into the main hall provides for quick serving. A double sink makes food preparation and the odd washing up simple and there is a separate hand-washing sink next to the cleaning equipment cupboard. Crockery, cutlery and glassware are available.
There is also a large garden at the rear of the building but this is in need of remedial work and is not generally available for users.
