On Wednesday 5th March there will be said services with ashing at 10am at St John’s and 11am at St Mary’s Kidlington. At 8pm in St Mary’s Kidlington we have a sung service with ashing.
How to Live Faithfully with Help from the Minor Prophets
Each week will focus on one theme from the minor prophets (repent and renew /remain faithful…) and we will discuss the challenges of modern Christian living with the resources – prophetic texts, art, music, and a range of theologians.
Groups will meet on Monday afternoons starting March 10th (2.30pm in St Mary’s Refectory) and Tuesday evenings starting March 11th (8pm in St John’s Lady Chapel).
The group leaflet is now available, – you can read it here or download it. If you read the booklet online you can click on any of the links given – note they may not open in a new tab, so at the end of viewing the link you would need to use the “back arrow” to return to the leaflet; don’t just close the tab as you will lose your place in the leaflet.
The Making Group will also be meeting on Friday afternoons from 2:30pm to 4pm in St Mary’s Refectory, starting on 14th March.
“Five Minor Prophets”
During Lent the Making Group will be meeting on:
14th, 21st, 28th March and 4th, 11th April at 2.30 – 4pm in the Refectory.
We will be looking at 5 minor prophets and what they teach us about Christian living. Our discoveries will be expressed through a large installation inspired by the work of contemporary artists Magdalena Abakanowicz and Barbara Chase Ribourd.
All are welcome to join the group. You do not have to be artistic. We will be using a wide variety of techniques: woodwork, knitting, fabric manipulation, knotting, weaving, working with recycled materials.
If you would like to take part but cannot come to the Friday sessions you could work at home (instructions provided!)
Please let us know if you would like to take part: David and Rosemary Meara
